Why can't I rent a SnowBike® and learn on my own? SnowBikes are new to many ski resorts. Due to safety concerns, resorts were initially reluctant to allow snowboards when that sport was first introduced, and the same goes for our bikes. At Front Range SnowBikes we strive to establish and maintain a good reputation for safety and the respect of other skiers. Positive vibes at the resorts will assure enthusiasts that SnowBiking will become as normal to the ski environment as any other mode of skiing. Let us give you a full demonstration. You will have a better understanding of the sport and have more fun. The next time you rent, you can get right on slopes.
Which resorts allow SnowBiking? Almost all Colorado resorts allow SnowBikes now. We rent bikes mainly for the front range resorts: Breckenridge, A-basin, Keystone, Copper, Vail, and Beaver Creek. Our bikes are available for use at other resorts for experienced riders with advanced arrangements. Contact us with your plans and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.
Are SnowBikes safe? On a Snowbike® you actually have 4 points of contact with the ground. You are sitting down, and therefore have a much lower center of gravity and a shorter distance to fall (if you do). Most people don't fall at all! As with any recreational activity, there are risks, but overall, SnowBiking is generally safer than skiing or snowboarding.
Is it hard to learn to SnowBike®? It is extremely simple to learn. The familiar platform of a bike and stable stance will make you feel right at home on the mountain. SnowBiking has the shortest learning curve of any snow sport. Expect to be enjoying yourself on your very first run!
How do you stop on a SnowBike®? Essentially the same as on skis or snowboards - by using the edges of the skis to grab the slope. Speed is controlled with turns. Don't worry, it is simple to learn and we will explain everything during your demonstration.
Can kids ride SnowBikes? Yes! SnowBikes are an excellent way to learn the skills needed to get comfortable on the mountain. We have no age restrictions but a 4 ft. minimum height is required. We have a limited supply of smaller bikes for the youngsters, so make your reservations early!
Aren't SnowBikes slow and boring? Well... the record speed of a SnowBike® is 103mph. The truth is, you can ride any way you'd like. Take a gentle cruise on a groomer, carve like a professional racer at high speed, adventure through the trees, or rip through the bumps on a mogul run - you decide. They are even fun in deep powder.
How heavy are SnowBikes? Our Brenter bikes weigh less than 16 pounds. Transporting the bike is easy and using the lifts is no problem.
How do you get a SnowBike® up the mountain? You take the lift just like everyone else. SnowBikes work with chairs, gondolas, and T-bars. On most chairs the bike will hang on the side with very little effort. Don't worry, it is simple to learn and we will explain everything during your demonstration.
How do I get SnowBike® equipment to the resort? The SnowBike® requires no special racks or equipment to transport. They compress to a small size and can even fit in the trunk of a small car.
Is SnowBiking fun? Yes, and it's O.K. to squeal with glee while going down the mountain. You can even shout out "WooooHoooo!" if you'd like.
Our motto: SnowBiking - half the effort and double the fun!
What are the height / weight restrictions? Height: 4 ft min, 7 ft max. | Weight: 225 lbs. is the max weight.
Are there other minimum requirements to rent from Front Range SnowBikes? You must be able to lift 16 pounds easily and be able to do a squat easily and comfortably.
Will I need special boots? Standard ski or snowboard boots will work. We have them available for rent at only $20 per day.
